Expiration of Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security ("CARES") Act

On March 27, 2020, the President signed into law the CARES Act.  A year later, on March 27, 2021, the President signed into law an amended version of the Act which extended the provisions in § 1113 of the CARES Act for one year.  On Sunday, March 27, 2022, the CARES Act lapsed.   

       a.  Official Form Changes:  Under the CARES Act, temporary amendments were made to five Official Forms.  Effective March 28, 2022, the five Official Forms previously amended revert back to their pre-CARES Act versions, with any non-CARES Act amendments incorporated.  Informa tion on the forms affected are posted on the United States Courts website on the Pending Changes in the Bankruptcy Forms page.  Please work with your bankruptcy software provider to ensure you are using the correct forms.

      b.   Case Management/Electronic Case Filing ("CM/ECF"):  The event Notice of Debtors Request for Mortgage Forbearance is no longer available for filing in the Court's CM/ECF system.
