Building Access and Security

COVID-19 Protocols for The Federal Building (Revised 07/18/2022) -- The Tulsa Federal Building is a United States General Services Administration controlled facility.  People may choose to wear a mask at any time.

Objective

In order to maintain a safe and secure environment for all visitors to The Federal Building and all agencies, tenants, and employees therein, every person entering the building is required to comply with the following safety and security measures, and to cooperate with Court Security Officers to achieve this very important goal.

Photo ID

Each person entering The Federal Building must present photo identification to the Court Security Officer.  Acceptable forms of photo ID include a valid driver's license, a state-issued identification card, a passport, or a federal employee, military, or veteran ID card.

Metal Detectors and Screening of Property

Each person entering The Federal Building must pass through the metal detector and have their property scanned by the X-ray machine.  Persons are subject to supplemental security screening if the metal detector indicates that such additional screening is necessary. In order for this to be an efficient process, please be aware of the following:

ITEMS PROHIBITED:

  • Weapons of any kind
  • Knives, scissors, or anything with a cutting edge
  • Aerosol containers

ITEMS ALLOWED WITH RESTRICTIONS:

  • Cameras are allowed in The Federal Building for use at naturalization proceedings.  In all other cases, cameras and audio recording or transmitting devices are prohibited unless prior judicial approval is obtained.  Cameras and audio recorders embedded in approved devices (i.e., cell phones) may not be used in the building without judicial approval.
  • Cell phones, tablets, laptop computers, and similar electronic devices may be brought into the building, but may not be used in a courtroom or jury room without judicial approval, except as set forth below.**

ITEMS THAT MUST BE SCANNED:

  • All belongings, including food and liquids, will be scanned.
  • Before going through the metal detector, individuals must empty their pockets and place the items in the trays provided by the Court Security Officer.
  • Before going through the metal detector, individuals should remove watches, jewelry, and other wearable metal items and place them in their bag or briefcase or in the trays provided by the Court Security Officer.

Individuals with pacemakers or cochlear implants may request screening via a hand-held wand upon presenting the Court Security Officer with a letter describing the condition from the doctor who performed the implant.

These procedures are for everyone's safety. Please be patient. Cooperation is the key to maintaining a secure atmosphere for everyone in the building.

**The Bankruptcy Court provides a Wifi connection for use by attorneys in the courtrooms to access case-related information. Laptop computers and other appropriate electronic devices may be used in the courtrooms for presentations to the Court, to view case documents through the PACER system, and to access other appropriate information.
