NEW Multifactor Authentication (MFA) requirement for CM/ECF and PACER
In May 2025, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO) will begin implementing multifactor authentication (MFA) to enhance system security for CM/ECF and PACER. By December 31, 2025, all CM/ECF users MUST be enrolled in MFA to maintain system access. Moreover, while MFA enrollment will be optional for PACER-only users, it is strongly recommended that they take advantage of this security feature.
Users with filing privileges and other types of CM/ECF-level access are encouraged to enroll in MFA at their earliest convenience to preserve uninterrupted access. Those who do not voluntarily enroll in MFA will be randomly selected to enroll starting in August 2025. To assist you, please see the updated documentation and learning aids available the PACER website.
If you have questions, please contact the PACER Service Center at pacer@psc.uscourts.gov or (800) 676-6856. The PACER Service Center hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT.
Please note that if using third-party software for filing, CM/ECF users should ensure MFA is supported by that software before enrolling to avoid any disruption in business processes.

**IMPORTANT NOTICE**: The Court's CM/ECF System is now on NextGen CM/ECF. Creditors may still file certain pleadings through the Court's website without requiring a login and password to the NextGen CM/ECF system. Please see the "For Creditors" page for more information.
What's Changing for CM/ECF Filers
On Friday, September 24, 2021 the Court upgraded its Case Management/Electronic Case Filing System ("CM/ECF") to the Next Generation of CM/ECF ("NextGen"). This upgrade provides users with several new benefits. One of these benefits is Central Sign-On, a login process which allows e-filing attorneys and non-attorneys to use one PACER login and password to access any NextGen Court (appellate, bankruptcy and district) in which they practice.
All electronic filers MUST obtain their own PACER account. Your PACER account is your login for NextGen, and therefore you MUST have your own individual PACER Account. E-filers are not able to use shared PACER accounts. Please click the PACER link below for more information regarding how to obtain a PACER account, upgrade your PACER Account and link your PACER Account to your current CM/ECF account.
